Headache & Migraine Treatment

A migraine is a kind of neurological condition that can cause a number of uncomfortable symptoms, like intense headaches, nausea, sensitivity to light and sound, as well as difficulty with speech.

There are a number of types of migraines, the most common of which are those with aura and those without aura. In many cases, the symptoms of a migraine may begin a day or two before the headache itself — these may include fatigue, food cravings, irritability, and neck stiffness. This stage may be followed by an aura, in which one may have difficulty with speech or experience loss of vision, before the attack phase occurs. The attack phase is characterised by acute migraine pain.

Although there is no one definitive cause for migraines, there are a number of factors that can trigger the condition. These include bright lights, dehydration, extreme weather conditions, stress, hormonal changes, loud noises, intense physical activity, changes in eating and sleeping patterns, alcohol use, and smoking. Some foods may also trigger migraines. These include foods and drinks containing caffeine, like coffee, tea and chocolate; foods containing MSG; cheese; salty foods; and pickled and fermented foods like kimchi and kombucha.

We offer migraine treatment with the use of injections that work by temporarily paralysing muscle activity and blocking nerve signals to certain muscles. The injected formula provides relief for weeks, or even months, and can be used as a preventative therapy every 12 weeks. The injections are administered in key areas of the head and neck with the use of very fine needles. Targeted areas may include the temples, forehead, neck, upper back, the back of the head, and the bridge of the nose.
