How do anti-wrinkle injections work?
The main difference between anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers is that anti-wrinkle injections are carried out mainly above the mid-face. For example the frown lines are and the crow’s feet. What it does is basically relaxes the muscles.
For frown lines, the treatment relaxes the frown muscle so that the muscle doesn’t crunch up and form lines. We have a number of patients that also benefit from the treatment because of tension headaches and migraine headaches. This is because anti-wrinkle injections relax the muscle that is causing the tension, alleviating the pain.
Who can get anti-wrinkle injections?
Our Ashbury patients come from all walks of life. Obviously the majority are ladies, but the men are catching up too! The ages range from mid-twenties to late-sixties, so we really treat a variety of ages from patient to patient.
How long do the injections last?
For anti-wrinkle injections, the longevity of the treatment can vary from one patient to the other. Results are typically noticeable 2 to 3 days post treatment and will reach their maximum potential around the 1-3 week mark post treatment.
Generally however the treatment will last between 3 and 4 months. For some lucky patients, the treatment lasts as long as 5 or 6 months. If you are a repeat customer, your results may last longer than the estimated time.
Does the procedure take long?
The anti-wrinkle injections are far simpler than the dermal fillers. At our Ashbury clinics in Windsor, Upper Mt Gravatt, Indooroopilly and the Gold Coast, we provide anti-wrinkle injection treatments that take typically only 10 minutes to perform.
We try to use the smallest needle possible. For most patients, they will only experience what feels like a small ant bite. Because the treatment is minimally invasive, patients often go straight back to work a few hours after their appointment. This is why we call it a lunch-time facelift!
How many injections are needed for treatment?
For the treatment to be effective, it will generally take around 5 injections. The treatments work by blocking the nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This causes the muscles to relax and gives them a smooth appearance.
