At Ashbury Clinic in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast, we have an in-house cosmetic tattooist.
Often referred to as “permanent make-up”, cosmetic tattooing is a tried and tested treatment for placing or replacing colour in your skin. Cosmetic tattooing – expressive eye definition while looking natural.
During your consultation with Ashbury Clinic’s in-house cosmetic tattooist, we will discuss your cosmetic needs with you. We will work with you to determine what your desired outcome is and the best way to achieve this.
The history of cosmetic tattooing
Cosmetic tattooing goes back centuries in the Middle East; however, it’s only been in the last 30 to 40 years that it has reached the Western world like it has currently. Celebrities from Cher and Michael Jackson to Madonna and Whitney Houston have had cosmetic tattooing done.
What is cosmetic tattooing and what’s involved?
Cosmetic tattooing is a semi-permanent way to enhance your appearance. This is achieved through tattooing the appropriate pigment colour into the dermis layer of your skin. During this procedure, a topical anaesthetic will be applied to the area being treated.
By ‘semi-permanent’, we mean that cosmetic tattooing can last from 2 years to as long as 7 years before there is a noticeable loss of colour. Fading occurs because of:
- Skin type
- Use of skin products
- Medications
- Natural skin exfoliation
- Exposure to sun
