Before
After
There are two main approaches to lip and filler treatments – temporary and permanent.
Filler treatments are injected under the surface of the skin to plump it up, make it firmer, and smooth out lines and wrinkles. In this way, they help to reverse the changes associated with ageing.
How do fillers work?
Fillers work solely on the area of muscle receiving the injection, which allows the surrounding muscles to function as normal. This assists in the normal function of facial expressions, avoiding the ‘expressionless’ look that has been criticised in the past.
Fillers are increasingly used to reduce necklines and in the treatment of brow lifts to achieve a more youthful and arched brow, which rounds and softens the eye.
What do filler treatments do?
- Plump thin lips
- Enhance shallow contours
- Soften facial creases and wrinkles
- Improve the appearance of recessed scars
- Reconstruct contour deformities in the face
- Decrease or remove the shadow of the lower lids
Temporary wrinkle filler
These injections wear off progressively over a period of around 6 to 12 months, meaning that repeat injections may be needed around twice a year. Early clinical studies indicate the duration of effect increases over time, so you may require less frequent injections in the future to maintain the result you have come to like.

Permanent wrinkle filler
At Ashbury Cosmetics in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast, we offer permanent fillers. Once permanent fillers are injected, it remains soft like human tissue and doesn’t degrade over time. Permanent fillers are non-toxic and non-allergenic; this means it doesn’t disappear and doesn’t move from the injection site.
These injections are made up of a transparent gel which is composed of mostly water and is applied using a fine needle. The gel is injected in the thin strings under the skin and settles as a soft filler where it is injected.
The active component of the gel is cross linked, which makes it a stable entity and prevents the body’s enzymes and bacterium from metabolising the gel. The high level of viscosity with the gel allows it to remain in place once injected and behave like a natural part of the skin, accommodating normal facial expression. After the injection of fillers, a thin layer of the body’s own connective tissue surrounds the gel. This enables the fillers to become a stable part in the connective tissue.
Lip Fillers
Ashbury Clinic also offers an assortment of lip filler options for patients who wish to enhance the natural youthfulness and plumpness of their lips.
