Angelina Jolie Undergoes Breast Augmentation After Her Double Mastectomy
Ashbury Cosmetics Clinic in Brisbane admires Angelina’s bravery which has seen many women follow in her footsteps…
Angelina Jolie has recently shown the world that aesthetic desires are not the only reason to get a breast augmentation. The popular and beautiful Hollywood actress known for her roles in Tomb Raider, Girl Interrupted and Changeling fame has recently shown the world that empowerment not only comes with loving yourself, but accepting the fact that sometimes change is necessary in order to prevail. Jolie is no stranger to the perils of cancer, as her mother passed away at the young age of 56 after a decade-long battle with cancer. This was due to the presence of a faulty gene known as BRCA1 which has been linked to a substantial increase in the risk of breast cancer.
What is BRCA1?
BRCA1 is a caretaker gene that is largely associated with the cause of breast cancer. This gene produces a protein named breast cancer type 1. The gene is located in breast tissue and is involved in repairing and destroying damaged DNA. If the gene itself is damaged that’s when the possibility of risk begins, as without this cell DNA cannot be repaired properly which can make the breast susceptible to serious conditions such as cancer. BRCA1 has also been proven to decrease fertility in women due to a decrease in the number of oocytes (potential eggs). In order to find out if you have this potentially damaging gene it is possible to have a breast cancer gene test that may be recommended by your GP.
Breast Augmentation and the BRCA1 gene…
Angelina Jolie made the decision to book herself in for a double mastectomy earlier this year. This procedure involves removing the potentially harmful breast tissue, and in her case replacing it with new implants to maintain a womanly and alluring look. There are other significant benefits for women with the BRCA1 gene as well, as Angelina’s mastectomy and breast augmentation decreased her risk of breast cancer from 87 to only 5 percent. This is a significant change which not only restored her body confidence but also increased her health.
Breast Augmentation can prevent further complications and restore confidence
A breast augmentation not only enhances the natural appearance of a woman’s breast it can also restore confidence to those that have lost breast tissue through mastectomy. Confidence is an extremely valuable and powerful attribute, especially for women that need to regain confidence in their body after breast operations. Here at Ashbury Cosmetics we are proud to offer breast reconstruction and breast augmentation as a solution to women who feel self-conscious about their breasts.
