Here Are 4 Big Reasons Why We All Develop Facial Wrinkles As We Age
Unfortunately one of the pitfalls of ageing gracefully is that we are bound to obtain a few wrinkles as we get older…
Wrinkles are a fact of life and a sign of aging; they can convey how much that person has been through, their class, their health and their history. However, wrinkles today are continuously becoming burdensome for those who wish to remain with their youthfulness for as long as possible and in this day and age the solutions for wrinkles are both numerous and in abundant variety. At Ashbury Cosmetic Surgery we offer a range of wrinkle treatment options to help alleviate the appearance of facial wrinkles but we find that many of our patients ask us how; ‘How has my face developed wrinkles over time?’ and we cannot truly give defined answers but there are significant factors that can contribute to the development of wrinkles. Here are four big reasons why we all develop facial wrinkles as we age.
1. Enjoying life…
How many times a day do you smile and say to yourself ‘I absolutely love life’? It might surprise you how many people will say yes and to those who smile, laugh, grin, giggle, holler and show their happiness across their face will begin to develop these ‘happy’ lines in later years to come. This is because every time we smile and laugh our skin is pulled, stretched and contoured into a new position and even though it might feel good at the time your smile lines can become permanent. And the same goes for frowning, crying and letting things make you angry, because if you have to pull a facial expression, your skin will be pulled and stretched in the process.
2. Basking in the sun…
Nobody loves the sun like us Queenslanders but in doing so we are unfortunate enough to not only bear the suns strength in heat but also the ultra-violet radiation. UV light stimulates enzymes in the skin that ‘breakdown’ the soft collagen in the skin. The collagen is what keeps the skin plump and wrinkle free so the more time you spend basking in the sun on the weekends the more chances that your skin is losing precious collagen.
3. Taking a drag…
For all you smokers out their unfortunately you are heightening your risk of developing wrinkles every time you take a puff. Smoking leads to premature aging of the skin which in turn causes the skin to lose its elasticity.
4. Ignoring your skin…
Skin is one of the biggest organs on your body and requires tender love and affection as you would pay attention to your teeth, hair or nails. The skin is constantly shedding old skin to reveal newer skin layers underneath and to ensure your skin stays healthy it is important to keep hydrated and exfoliated so that your skin is not left dry and in turn; left to age prematurely.
At Ashbury Cosmetic we have locations in Brisbane, Windsor, Mt Gravatt, Indooroopilly and the Gold Coast dedicated to helping women and men alleviate their facial wrinkles…
Wrinkles are ultimately caused by the lack of elasticity in your skin. This means that the skin does not have the ability to stretch back into its previous position, this is when folded layers of skin occur which we commonly call wrinkles. At one of our cosmetic clinic locations we offer a range of skin and wrinkle treatment to help rejuvenate your skin and alleviate the appearance of wrinkles:
