Unsightly veins can be a very painful and cosmetic burden; luckily Ashbury Cosmetics has options for you as well as news about the latest scientific developments.
Veins can often be a painful burden, not to mention they can cause cosmetic distress and body image concerns. If you have ever sat at your desk and felt painful throbbing in a particular area of your leg, or you worry about those blue or raised veins when wearing a bathing suit then you probably suffer from varicose veins. Though the worst varicose veins are often raised from the leg, they can also be felt when they’re first developing through pain when sitting or standing for extended periods of time. The pain, blueness and raised appearance is caused by a faulty vein which eventuates in the pooling of blood in the vein.
Recently there has been a strange innovation in the treatment of varicose veins and it can even be found in your cupboard in its simplest form. VenaSeal is a form of superglue which is injected into the vein under one injection of local anaesthetic. It then closes the faulty vein which forces the blood to flow through working veins in the leg. This strange treatment of varicose veins could be seen in clinics in a couple of years, however until then we have trusted and proven procedures to eliminate the appearance of varicose veins.
At Ashbury Cosmetics we have three main treatments for varicose veins.
- Endo Venous Laser Therapy (EVLT)
This option is considered the most modern of varicose vein treatments. It involves inserting a fibre into the vein which will then be activated by radio frequency – otherwise known as laser energy ablation. This procedure then causes the vein to shrink and seal shut, and it will eventually be accepted by the surrounding tissue in the body.
This is the traditional treatment for varicose veins. In this therapy you will be placed under a general anaesthetic and the problem veins will be removed via tiny incisions in the leg or place of discomfort.
- Laser Therapy
Laser therapy utilises electronic light pulses to treat the veins. The vein collapses under the stress of the beams of light and will eventually be reabsorbed by the body.
Varicose vein treatments can often be used as a treatment for Rosacea and spider veins as well as varicose veins and there are numerous other health benefits. The primary result you will notice from varicose vein treatment will be the reduction of visible veins and decreased pain when sitting or standing.
As pain can also be aggravated by pregnancy, the treatment of varicose veins will make your experience all the more pleasant when you fall pregnant. The other most significant health benefit is the decreased possibility of developing venous ulcers. These appear as large sores on the body where the blood has pooled in the vein, and can be unsightly and painful.
The laser, sclerotherapy and EVLT therapies can offer instant results and have minimum downtime depending on the extremity of your varicose veins. These treatments have been proven to be highly effective, building our reputation as the predominant varicose vein clinic on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane.
