Keep them dry and in no time, you’ll recover…
For the first week of your recovery it is important not to get your surgical incision sites wet. By keeping your incisions dry you can allow the incision site to heal completely so that no infections can occur and so that the water does not irritate the wound and prolong the recovery time.
Relax, don’t do it, ask some else to do it…
One of the first things about recovering after any surgery is that manual labour is a no go. Please, if you are recovering after your surgery, avoid lifting heavy objects, pushing open doors or performing strenuous physical actions. The reason for this is because your new breast implants will be placed either on top or under your pectoral muscles. In the event that you are pushing too hard on a door or are picking up a bag your muscles contracting in the movement you could irritate your breast implants while they are trying to adjust within your body. It is important to let your body recover to avoid unnecessary scaring or irritation.
Avoid exercise, now is the time to relax…
We cannot stress this enough. Many women who get breast augmentations may instantly feel a sense of self-confidence after getting their new breast implants and may want to get back to their lives as soon as possible after the surgery. However, after you leave the operating table the treatment is not over yet. It is incredibly important to avoid strenuous activity as stated above and exercise is no exception. Exercise is over stimulating and could cause more damage than good if done prematurely during your recovery. A procedure such as this requires tentative tender love and care to ensure that your body adjusts and heals properly with your new breast implants. This will require at least six weeks of taking it easy and relaxing because the recovery time will be much shorter if your body is given the time to heal. This includes the incision sights, to avoid as much scaring as possible it is important to avoid exposing the incision site to UV sunlight which is proven to breakdown collagen and reduce the health and elasticity of your skin; and in doing so worsening the appearance of your incision site.
